The Vatican’s chief astronomer says that believing in aliens does not contradict faith in God. The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes, the Jesuit director of the Vatican Observatory, says that the vastness of the universe means it is possible there could be other forms of life outside Earth, even intelligent ones.

Obviously the Vatican’s chief astronomer missed the part where we are made in god’s image, or that Jesus was sent to save humanity. Guess all those poor aliens are destined to spend eternity in hell being tortured by his “all loving” god.
…and so begins the Catholic Church’s inevitable slide towards deism.
