One more – and that’s it.

Marcus is right. I said I would not bother with him anymore, so this will be my last reply.

Are you willing to say that the prevailing scientific understanding is that the universe is eternal? If you are, what are your sources?

Our observations only go as far as the Planck length – we simply do not know the state of the universe below this limit except through extrapolating our mathematical models. In any case, a singularity is still light years away from being nothing. You say the universe came from nothing at all, science says it came from a singularity. The Bible is WRONG.

You can’t assert that the universe does not require a creation because it does. It is not eternal. It has a beginning and an ending. If something has an end it has a beginning. Even reknowned atheists such as Christopher Hitchens agree that the universe is going to end according to the evidence. The means it’s not eternal. Simple logic. God however has no ending or beginning. Do we have emprical and observable scientific proof of God’s eternalness? None that I’ve seen. Do we have evidence that God is eternal? Yes. The fact that time exist at all shows that who ever made it is not bound by it.

You have not demonstrated the universe had a beginning , you have merely asserted it. I am happy to admit the universe had a beginning if there was any evidence to support it. There isn’t. Nor is there any evidence to suggest it’s eternal. The question is unanswered and I see no way to verify which of those two options (or what possible other options) might be true. The burden of proof is with you.

All your conjecture does not change the fact that the universe is finite. Your ideas have no proof and I have heard all of these ideas before now. How do the author’s of the Bible know the origins of the Universe? God told them. It’s so simple

Again, you have no way of knowing if the authors of the Bible were divinely inspired, lying, or simply insane. There is no way to determine what goes on in someone else’s head. Even if people deeply and honestly believe in what they are saying, it does not demonstrate their stories. People have sworn they have seen Elvis, UFOs, or the ghost of Michael Jackson. So what? Some people have believed their own bullshit so much they have committed suicide to hitch a ride on a UFO hidden in the tail of a passing comet. Totally barking mad.

Laws of Physics are not simply observations. Look at Newtons 2nd Law of motion: Force is change of momentum over time or Force equals mass times acceleration. OR what about Gauss’ Law. It has a mathematical equation describing real life. We do have Newtons Law of gravitation: F = – Gm1m2/r(squared). If you are going to malign my credentials you should provide your own, What have you got?

See the emphasis I made there? Yes, Guass’ Law has a mathematical equation for DESCRIBING real life – it does not mean real life conforms to our models. The universe is simply the way it is – WE use mathematical formulas to describe it. The universe would go on behaving the way it does regardless of the existence of any mathematical formulas to describe it. Thank you for proving my point for me.

What are my credentials? None of your business. I don’t crow about my achievements for the meek shall inherit the Earth. Jackass.

Well at least this time you provided a couple of books. However many scientists disagree for good reasons just like there are many who agree. Not all scholars who disagree with macro evolution are theists. They just don’t see that there is enough evidence to accept macro evolution.

Those who reject it either haven’t looked at the evidence, don’t know what it means, or are idiots. Take your pick.

Who says I misunderstand. And that’s a fine definition. It doesn’t bother me at all. But that is what scientists are saying about the math pointing to the universe being out of nothing

A singularity is not nothing. You are full of fail.

Um the first day of the week is not Monday.

If God rested on the seventh day of the week after all that hard work creating and the Sabbath is Sunday, then that makes the start of the work week Monday. Like I said – God was bored on Monday morning. Don’t like when God starts his week? Take it up with him.

God created Hell. I never said He did not. The question you need to ask is why people and demons are going to hell…they are going to hell because they do not want to be with God. They don’t want to love or submit to him. God is just giving you what you want…and what you deserve. If you don’t want to go to hell then repent and submit. It’s really simple.

Yep. God creates being he knows will not want to be with him so he can (unwillingly) send them to this special place of extreme unpleasantness he has created for them. It’s really simple.

I believe it becasue the Bible says so and the way God has intervened in my personal life. He has shown me that He loves me and cares.

So what’s all this crap about cosmology, archeology, chemistry, physics, biology, and philosophy? Why is that that “God intervening in your personal life” is enough to convince you that he’s real, but far too flimsy evidence to present to others? Sounds like you found out all this other stuff after you had you revelation of God’s existence. Why not just say – “God intervened in my life and has shown me he loves me” rather than mucking about with all this science garbage?

Seriously, what was the first moment you believed in God? Was it after you scientifically researched the data and read all the religious texts? Did you match up the holy accounts with the hard empirical data and reach a reasoned decision? Or did you have some emotional experience and attribute it to baby Jesus, then justified your decision by looking for arguments that supported it? Be honest.

It isn’t a threat its a promise. When cancer cells attempt to kill a person, we kill those cells because they threaten healthy cells by their inability to do what they are supposed to do in the body. When a person is infected with a contagious disease, we quarantine them so that they don’t infect others. That is what hell is like. We are the monsters not God. HE condescended so He could save us all though He knew some people would spit back in His Face.

We don’t willingly create cancer so we can kill the cells. We don’t create deadly infectious diseases so we can quarantine people. Get it?

Revelation can be verified. Does it square with evidence. None of the Bible can be shown to be wrong or false. If it could be you would have done it by now. Appealing to hallucinations, and folk tales does not change the fact that you can’t provide a single proof that none of the stories of the Bible are false only that you can’t believe them.

Here’s a short list of some of the stupid bullshit from the Bible: Talking donkeys and snakes, spitting in people’s eyes cures them, believers can drink poison and not be harmed, a global flood, 500 year old people, burning bushes, hailstones mixed with fire, unicorns, snakes with legs, bats are birds, being barred from worship if your balls are missing, shellfish are an abomination, mixed clothes will send you to hell, women are not allowed to speak in church, killing 1,000 men with the jawbone of an ass, magic super-strength giving hair, Earthquakes are cause by angry God, Joseph’s line matters to spite a virgin birth, Mary says she’s never been fucked and everyone believes her, people can live inside big fish for 3 days, eclipses that nobody notices, the dead rise and no one has a pencil, nobody writes any of this down until miraculously they all decide to 40 years after to events, people believe the bullshit stories, and on, and on….

Yet you still think the Bible is perfect. Still cling to explanations that aren’t explanations at all. No, “it’s a miracle” is not a good explanation. None of these things or the thousands of other idiotic ideas in the Bible will ever show you it’s wrong because you are not willing to admit it.

You’re a waste of time, and from now on you can waste somebody else’s.

Atheism 2.0

“Atheism 2.0” is a 20 minute TED presentation by Alain de Botton in which he proposes a new approach to evangelising atheism. Alain suggests (apparently without evidence) that we have “secularised badly” and we should sift through the rituals, traditions, and behaviours of religion to identify and adopt their efficient mechanisms. “I have come here…

The Bizarre Bible

Atheists are often told by believers to read the Bible and it will all become clear.  Trouble is, many of us have tried that and it doesn’t seem to have helped.  Take these verses for example: This does not sound like a great night out to me. “But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master…
