I had been thinking of an idea I may want to discuss on the show if you guys would have me and I'm not too shy. Andrew and I had discussed me contributing soon after the show began but things have been pretty hectic my end.

People often state that increased emotional wellbeing is an advantage of their religion i.e. the oft heard 'it makes me feel good so I don't care if it's true or not'. I think there is an important flip side to that in terms of the mental/emotional distress religious dogma can cause and also the difficulty in identifying mental illness in a culture where talking to imaginary people is an accepted activity, or in helping people to distinguish between imagined things/delusions and real things in a world where relativism and tolerance is the dominant mode of discourse. These are themes that have been of importance in my personal life and in my work and I think they are important. What do you guys think?

Sure! Let's schedule it in somewhere.

I use Zune software but I don't own a zune media player of any sort but I manually subscribed to the podcast via your site (I have nfi what this marketplace is).

The thing I don't get about the "condom with teeth" is how you can ensure a rapist uses one. I'd imagine while raping someone the rapist themselves determin which condom they use (and put it on themselves) so I'm unclear how a woman can get this condom used. Also, without clear identification I foresee a number of innocent men having to present at their local ED with their girlfriend or wife in toe asking doctors to remove the psychotic condom.

The "condom" goes inside the woman and acts as a kind of barbed trap for rapists.

2.3 In this episode you were talking about the female condoms made for South africa for women who get raped. Totally reminds me of the wives tale of w omen's Virgina's having teeth and the movie based on that tale where a girl bites of the penis of all these men who take advance of her with her vagina. Its called Teeth. Terrible movie but worth renting to waste a Friday night, in front of the T.V with some chips. Again hope this is the right episode, take care.

Atheism 2.0

“Atheism 2.0” is a 20 minute TED presentation by Alain de Botton in which he proposes a new approach to evangelising atheism. The Bizarre Bible

Atheists are often told by believers to read the Bible and it will all become clear.  Trouble is, many of us have tried that and it doesn’t seem to have helped.  Take these verses for example: This does not sound like a great night out to me. “But Rabshakeh said unto them, Hath my master…
