This site it dedicated to exposing the ridiculous notions we have come take for granted at the core of many societies – that is religious beliefs.

All religions are based on precious little evidence, in fact most demand that faith, or belief without evidence, or sometimes to spite the evidence.  Furthermore, you are told this is alright because faith is a virtue.

While we continue to allow people to decide the fate of others based on ideas that can not be proved, nor which any evidence could ever be forthcoming, we shall remain hostage to their invisible friends and his whimsical wishes.  Everything from the clothes you wear, what you eat, where you can go, who you can marry, and what you do in the privacy of your own home can be subjected to bizarre religious doctrine.

Don’t get me wrong, many people have faith which is entirely benign.  I have no problem with people believing whatever they want to believe, so long as they do not try to enforce their superstitions onto my way of life.

Fundamentalists are of more concern.  The same arguments used to support the moderate believers are easily employed to defend the Fundamentalist. But once you truly believe that the creator of the universe has given you a book of instructions (and we have many such books), then it is those who do not follow these laws that are labeled “enemies of god”.  It is an unfortunate reality that many of these “holy texts” instruct the murder of disbelievers, en-slavery of women, genocide, and horrific deaths for all manner of “sins” according to their God’s petty desires.  Placing faith on an untouchable pedestal far from the reaching of inquisitive minds and sceptical analysis only provides shelter for such “radical views”.

Even main stream society is subject to the superstitious beliefs of scientifically ignorant men who lived long ago in another country.  Modern examples include the blocking stem cell research, prevention of condom use, the beating of homosexuals and women are only a few examples.

I do not advocate the banning of religion.  I just want to be left alone.  Keep your religion and other silly superstitions to yourself.  If you bring them out in public I will ridicule you stupid ideas – and deep down you know they *are* stupid.
