Supernatural school
Westlife Church is an offshoot of Hillsong Church located just outside Brisbane has managed to convince 70 people to enrol in their 6 month long course on “how to perform miracles”. The Church recently offered the ”School of the Supernatural” stating it teaches the power to cure cancer, help women conceive and bring the dead back to life.
We share the belief of the wider Christian church of all affiliations that God can answer prayer and we pray for those with physical, emotional and spiritual needs.”
The danger in these beliefs is many take them seriously – just listen to the opening remarks. When your all powerful deity will do you bidding at the merest thought, then what use are medical treatments? Admittedly he quickly backs away from this position by claiming “god works through the hand of surgeons” or some such nonsense.
This kind of wooly thinking reminds me of Ray Comfort’s embarrassing banana affair. Ray famously claims the banana was perfectly designed by his loving creator for human consumption, but had to quickly adjust his message when it was pointed out the modern banana was the product of selective evolution. All of a sudden “god gave us the power to domestic the banana”. Yeah right.
Don’t fall for the flim-flam of these charlatans. Mumbling to yourself will not cure cancer, make women pregnant, or raise loved ones from the dead. You will end up disappointed, broke, and possibly dead following the advice of these crooks.
